As any good property developer will tell you, it’s important to get the best return on every penny you spend on your project throughout the whole development lifecycle. The cost of demolition and removing unwanted materials can vary widely, but demolition can also cost you nothing – and may even be a money-spinner – it’s a matter of getting the timing right.
In spring and summer, when there’s more building work going on, hardcore is understandably in higher demand so builders will often take it off your hands for free – to use for filling excavations. And, they may even be prepared to pay for it if it’s good, reusable material, such as characterful bricks from an old building! But in autumn and winter, when demand is lower, you’ll probably have to pay for both removal and tipping charges to clear your site.
So, plan ahead for the seasons and consider your development’s end-to-end professional costs and opportunities – because at the right time, rubble does have value.
